Composite Card Event:

A composite card (also called comp card, z card or set card) is a marketing tool for actors,
and especially models. They serve as the latest and best of a model's portfolio and are
used as a business card.  Comp cards are generally 8.5 x 5.5 in size, and consist of 4 to 6
photos arranged in a way to accentuate the best an actor, or model, has to offer.
Contestants submit their comp card for scoring, and may enter comp cards up to size 8x10.
Contestants may enter more than one comp card for a reduced fee, however only the
highest comp card score will be used.

Acting Talent Event:

This is an on stage event for contestants to show their acting skills.  Prior to the Grand
Showcase contestants should select one of the sample commercial scripts included in this
packet. Contestants should memorize the script and try to create interesting timing, pacing,
and voice inflections. Although this competition is not timed, the commercial should not last
longer than thirty seconds. Age appropriate make up is allowed in all age divisions for the
Acting Event.  Children under the age of 4 will be placed in a playtime environment set up
similar to a baby casting call and must be dressed in the T-shirt given to the contestant at
registration with a pair of black pants.

Spokesmodel Talent Event:

This is an on stage event where the contestant will show the audience and the panel of
judges their ability to be the Spokesmodel for American Star Discovery.  A believable
appearance and intelligent delivery of information is very important for the success of any
Spokesmodel.  Contestants should create a 30 second announcement that would include
their name, where they are from, something about American Star Discovery, and must
conclude with the phrase “And this is American Star Discovery.”

Entertainer Talent Event:

Entertainer Talent is defined as talent such as singing, dancing, musical instruments, etc.
Contestants are required to perform their talent in front of the audience and a panel of
judges, and should try to limit their performance to 2 minutes and 30 seconds.  Contestants
entering the Entertainer Talent Event should indicate any special requirement they have on
their registration forms so that arrangements can be made in advanced.  Special
